Learning outcomes

The Internship program for the students of the Department Business Administration at the School of Economics of the University of Western Macedonia focuses on the implementation of initiatives aimed at the effective and quality training of students in the internship. It emphasizes the need to prepare students, enabling them to effectively apply their knowledge from their studies at a practical level and integrate them into work environments related to the subject of their studies. The activities within the framework of the Internship seek to enhance the students knowledge, promoting the effective use of their knowledge and skills, in order to facilitate their smooth integration into the labor market.
Internship is an essential element of Higher Education, offering students the opportunity to gain practical experience and to come into contact with the real labor market. It contributes to the efficient use of the knowledge and skills students have acquired during their studies, facilitating their integration into the labor market and promoting the creation of permanent communication between educational institutions and business entities. Gaining professional experience through the Internship can assist in the correct professional orientation of the student, providing him with opportunities to define his professional goals and explore alternative professional perspectives.

3. SYLLABUS

Internship in the 6th Semester is optional, and students who choose it and are selected to do will receive 12 ECTS and be exempted from two courses of the adopted specialization (one of the 7th Semester and one of the 8th Semester).

Conditions of participation
The right to participate in the Internship program has any student of the Department in the 6th semester of their studies and has not participated in the Internship again in the past, maintain student status throughout the duration of the Internship and not already be employed by public bodies and the wider public sector.

Duration and Obligations
The Internship has a minimum duration of three (3) months and takes place during the spring semester. In case of National Strategic Reference Framework (ESPA), then the duration of the Internship is strictly 3 months. The student is entitled to leave for 1 day per month, from the institution that carries out the internship, which cannot be transferred to another month. The student will have full-time hours, on working days (five-day work) and according to the work schedule, with the aim of carrying out the internship. Also, he/she should be diligent in his/her work, be disciplined and understand the relationship between the different levels of employees in the work environment. He is also obliged to attend the place of employment indicated by the Agency, to comply with the operating hours, safety and work regulations and any other regulation or regulation that applies to the agencys staff. The daily employment is at least six (6) hours and should not exceed eight (8) hours per day, the Internship does not allow overtime, while the scope of employment should not differ from that declared and agreed with the Agency. The minimum working hours are 120 hours/month. The institution also undertakes to provide the intern with the necessary equipment to carry out the tasks assigned to him. The student has the right to be absent only after informing the institution and the supervising professor in time. Applications to participate in the Internship program they take place at the beginning of the academic year, following a relevant invitation announced on the Departments website, where the necessary supporting documents are specified. The Scientific Officer, and the Internship committee. of the Department evaluate the applications based on an algorithm approved by the Department Assembly and make the relevant recommendation to the Department Assembly, which is responsible for the selection.
