WELCOMING NEW TEACHING STAFF MEMBERS

In the context of transparency and accountability principles and with a view to strengthening and improving the quality of the services provided to the teaching staff of the University of Western Macedonia, the present “Welcoming Procedure” has been adopted for new teaching staff members both academic and non-tenure ones.

The welcoming process involves a framework of actions to inform new teaching staff members about their duties and how they can respond to them more effectively.

Welcoming procedure aims to:

  • facilitate communication between the new teaching staff members and the Department and Administration bodies.
  • provide information on UoWM life.
  • inform new teaching staff members on their rights and obligations during their academic career.
  • offer support to effectively carry out their duties.

Therefore:

  • The Department Head informs the Department members and the Head of the Administration Office about the recruitment of the new academic or non-tenure teaching staff members.
  • The Department Head informs the new academic or non-tenure teaching staff member about the Department, the Department’s strategy, regulations and how to behave towards students.
  • Division Heads inform the new academic or non-tenure teaching staff member about study divisions, and courses, and provide information/guidelines about theses.
  • The Administration Service inform the new academic or non-tenure teaching staff member about:
  • lecture rooms, laboratories, and all the facilities of the department.
  • how to register for a personal academic account, how to use and manage e-class and other electronic services.
  • library services by sending information material.
