Objectives of the course:

 The tourism system & its modern potential.
 The tourist management system.
 Spatial units as vacation spots.
 Functions, organizations & activities & spatial units.
 Tourism development of spatial units through reception of tourists.
 Administrative decentralization & responsibilities.
 Central & decentralized administrations in tourism (greek & international experience).

 Planning & management of projects & policies.

3. SYLLABUS

The course content includes:

• Theoretical & empirical data of tourism as a productive, consuming & administrative system.
• National tourism policy pursuits.
• Examination of the regional dimension of tourism development (regions, municipalities, coastal zones, rural zones, mountainous areas).
• Significance of spatial dimension for the formulation of integrated tourism development policy.
• Comparative develpment framework of the administrative structure & organization of tourism (EU countries).
• Sustainability & tourism.
