3. SYLLABUS
|
The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the concepts and principles of information systems. The course describes Management Information Systems (MIS) as they are shaped in the light of current technological, economic and social changes. In the first part, basic concepts are developed (definition, categories of MIS), followed by the components of an MIS (hardware, software, databases, telecommunication networks). In the third part, the course deals with the interdependence of the IS with a business/organisation, from a management/organisation perspective. The theoretical part of the course includes the following modules: - Introduction to management information systems - Databases - Business intelligence - Database infrastructure - Networks, Internet - Information systems, networking, information technology, information systems infrastructure,information systems security - Business information systems - Competitive advantage and business information systems - Development and management of information systems The practical part of the course includes the following modules: - Application of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software |
