2. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, the student should:
1. Have acquired theoretical and practical knowledge for the organization of data and data management
2. Have developed skills in designing, creating and using databases
On completion of the course, the student should be able to design and build a database in a relational database management system

- Project planning and management of relational databases

3. SYLLABUS

The theoretical part of the course includes the following modules:
- Introduction to database management systems
- Data models
- Physical organisation of data
- Conceptual models
- The entity-relationship model
- The relational model
- Relational calculus
- Database languages: SQL

The practical part of the course includes the following modules:
- Requirements analysis and design of a database
- SQL programming language
- Building a database using Microsoft SQL Server software
